The Alliance government, or Ascenderat, is composed of several organizations. The Continental Assembly represents the member kingdoms and acts as a forum for those kingdoms to communicate with one another as well as gain direct audience with the Ascendant. The Council of Viziers act as advisors to the Ascendant and carry out his decrees. The Continental Army maintains the defence of the Alliance. The Khallaiie Academy administrates the Khallaiie, training new members and assigning Khallaiie to the various noble houses and army units. The College of White Masters oversees the network of enchanters who maintain telepathic communication between far flung parts of the Alliance as well as use magic to augment the Continental Army.
At official functions, the Ascendant holds two symbols of power. In his right hand, he or she holds six diadems, one for each of the alliance nations. These are
In his or her left hand, the Ascendant holds a blue crystal globe, representing the world and the Ascendant's dominion over it. The Ascendant does not wear a crown on his or her own head, just as Thyren refused a crown. Thyren himself saw the role of Ascendant as that of a steward, guiding the allied kingdoms into a peaceful and prosperous future, not that of an absolute dictator or emperor. Despite the enormous power the Ascendants have held for over a thousand seasons, this tradition of denying a crown has remained.

Ascenderati, a modification of the old language of Amon Bhorag, is the language of diplomacy and commerce throughout the Alliance.
